Cat Urinating In House

Cat Urinating In House
It will definitely feel so annoying to find your newly polished floor messed up with your cat urinating in house. If this is your problem, well do not fret, as this is almost every cat owners’ problem especially during the early days of raising or taking a cat for a house pet. Remember- even kids are having problems with toilet training and controlling their urge to urinate… how much more with cats?
Possible Causes of Cat Urinating In House
If your cat has never been trained to eliminate in proper places, then definitely you have to train them as to where they should pee. They should develop this habit if you are training them regularly with this routine.
However, if your cat has suddenly developed this urinating problem, it may be caused by something medical in etiology. The most common causes are lower urinary tract infection and bladder stones. These conditions make the cat urinate in places where it doesn’t usually eliminate because it cannot control the urge to urinate. You may also notice several signs and symptoms which can point out to these issues such as blood in the urine, increased urination frequency, straining during elimination, etc. In some cases, your cat may need urinalysis to identify if crystals are present in the urine.
Treating Cat Urinating In House
For behavioral causes of cat urination, the use of a litter box or litter box training should be employed. Litter box training is very crucial in training the cat to urinate and defecate in proper areas. It is suggested that each household should have at least one litter box. This box should be placed in an environment which has less stimuli and somewhere comfortable enough that the cat would not hesitate to do its “thing” there. It would take a few days to weeks for your cat to develop this habit so take your time and be patient.
If after doing the remedies for behavioral problems the problems seems not be resolved yet, better go to your vet and have your cat checked. Your cat may be prescribed with medications like Amitriptyline to lessen the stress which may cause the problem. It can be administered as a pill or an ear gel but the pill form is a more effective way of administering the drug. This drug has to be administered daily without fail. If you feel that your cat is already responding to the medication, you can consult your vet about stopping this medication.
There are many other treatment options available for this problem that your cat is having. It has been found out that improper urinating is the usual cause of euthanizing a cat or surrendering it and definitely, we wouldn’t want this to happen to our cats. Seek your veterinarian for more cat-friendly and effective remedies for cats urinating improperly in your house. Good luck in your prevention of cat urinating in house
